Welcome to GUTS Mentoring Program

 

                    

The GUTS mentoring program is committed to matching students and their needs with adult professionals who can assist them in succeeding at any endeavor they peruse.   Mentoring can take any of the following forms based on the specific needs of the student:

        1. Electronic mentoring can take one of the following

       formats:  

Personal/Social Development Mentoring 

The mentor will make an electronic contact at least once a week with the mentee to discuss  academic or personal development.  

Academic Mentoring

The mentor will make electronic contacts with teachers and a group of students on an as needed basis to assist with a project or curriculum unit.

Career Mentoring

The mentor will make electronic contacts with mentee to answer specific questions about a project or a career at least once a week.

2. One-on-one mentoring: where a student will meet with an adult every other week and have phone contact on the alternate weeks.

                                             

 3.  Career mentoring: a student can shadow a professional in the 

 work place to  gain knowledge about a career he/she is interested in pursuing

 in the future.  This could be done in only one visit or several visits depending

 on the time and schedule of the mentor.  

         

 4. Academic mentoring: a mentor will assist a group of students and

 their teacher with a  specific project.  The mentor acts as the expert , and

 gives advice and  information about  a certain subject. This can be done

 on-line or in person.
